Pastoral Blog/Rural Living

Marlowe and Raleigh both write in the genre of pastoral poems dealing with the beauty of the agrarian lifestyle. Marlowe takes a positive idealistic view while Raleigh's response is more cynical. You live in a rural community area. What do you think about living here? What are the benefits? What are the drawbacks? Do you plan to live in a rural area once you've established a career? Why or why not? Feel free to respond to each other in constructive manner.

I really like living here in the rural area. things are slower here than in the city. The benefits are: you know almost everyone, you know where everything is, we are very close to the country, and we know who lives around here and who is bad. The drawback is we dont have the big stores to buy things. I would really like to come back to a place close to here after I establish a career because it is a good place to raise a family.

Sometimes I don't , mind living in a rural community but others I just want to leave and do something new. Some benefits are that you know almost everyone and you don't have much traffic. The drawbacks are that there is almost nothing to do here. I want to move to a city when I am practicing my career because it give me more opportunities to succeed.

Ever since I moved from New York State in July 2002, I have to say I do like living in a rural area sometimes. It nice, peaceful, quiet, everyone knows you. However, there is not a lot to do here and I have been to a lot of places around the world and I can say that there is more to the world than just O'Neill

I do like the rural area a little bit. Some of the benefits to living in a small town are that you know almost everyone in the town and your school, everyone is friendly, driving is not hectic like the city, and it's a really great community atmosphere to be a part of.
But, I personally, like the city because you have everything there. You don't have to travel so far to get things that you can't find in small rural areas. I also like that you don't know everyone. It just seems more convenient and I like that atmosphere of the city. There's just so much you cant do there that you can't do in a small town.
I don't plan to move back to a small rural area after establishing a career. I think it's a good place to grow up but I will probably end up living in the city or just outside the city.
